Annual security audits for your venue or event

Making sure your security plans stay effective, you remain legally compliant – and your guests feel safe and welcome

At RB Protect Solutions, we know that great security isn’t just about locks and barriers – it’s about creating spaces where people can feel safe without it feeling forced.

We’ve spent over 25 years working in theatres, venues, and publicly accessible spaces across the UK, so we understand the balance between keeping your visitors safe and letting them enjoy themselves.

Our Annual Security Audits help you check that your security measures and emergency plans are still doing their job, you are still legally compliant – and that your team is ready and confident, without losing sight of what makes your venue special.

What our security audits involve

When we visit your site for an Annual Security Audit, we’re looking at the real-world picture – how your security measures work in practice, day to day.

Here’s what’s included:

  • On-site visit and staff engagement
We spend time with your team, listening to how they work and how they feel about security.
  • Testing the robustness of your plans
We dig into your security and response plans, seeing how they’d stand up in a real emergency – not just on paper.
  • Penetration testing
We can do a basic test to see how easy it is to get around your current procedures, giving you an honest view of what might need tightening up.
  • Training records and staff confidence
We check your training records and talk to staff to see if they know what to do, especially in a mass casualty situation – because that confidence matters.
  • Lockdown and invacuation plans
We look at how these plans would play out in real life – and can even test them with you to see how effective they really are.
  • Updates on legislation and best practice
We’ll make sure you’re up to date with any new guidance or laws, including Martyn’s Law (the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025), so you’re always on the right side of compliance.
  • Link to the National Protective Security Authority (NPSA)
Because we’re led by a Chartered Security Professional (CSyP), a trusted partner for the National Protective Security Authority (NPSA). This way we can be a conduit to get the latest security information and updates out to venues like yours – so you’re never left behind on what really matters.
  • Living security plans
We make sure your plans are more than paperwork – they’re part of how you run your venue every day.
  • Tailored to your venue and tier
We’ll tailor our audit to your size and the specific legal requirements for your tier:
Standard Tier (200–799 guests) – Proportionate measures and staff awareness
Enhanced Tier (800+ guests) – More detailed checks for complex sites
  • Clear, actionable report
At the end, you’ll get a report that covers:
    What you’re already doing well
    What could be improved
Practical, proportionate recommendations you can actually use

We’re not here to trip you up – we’re here to help you build a security culture that works for your staff, your visitors, and the experience you’re proud to offer.

Why choose RB Protect Solutions?

  • We’ve worked with venues large and small for over 25 years – from historic theatres to modern event spaces. We know that your visitors come for the experience, not the security.
  • That’s why we’re focused on helping you find the balance between robust security and a welcoming environment. Your guests should feel safe – but not like they’re in a fortress.
  • With a team led by a Chartered Security Professional (CSyP) and regular briefings from the NPSA, we’re up to date with the latest threats and best practice. We bring that knowledge straight to your venue – in a way that works for you.

A partner for the long term

We see these audits as part of an ongoing relationship – not a one-off job. We’re here to help you keep getting better, keep building trust with your visitors, and keep your team feeling confident and prepared.

Who we work with

Since 2015, we’ve carried out Security Audits for a wide range of venues across the UK – from small community spaces and local theatres to busy event venues and high-capacity sites. We’ve worked with:

Small venues and local spaces
Making sure their security plans stay relevant and workable year after year

Venues who would now be in the Standard Tier (200–799 guests)
Checking that their plans meet the expectations of Martyn’s Law and that staff feel confident with them in practice.

Venue who would now be classed as Enhanced Tier venues (800+ guests)
Auditing complex systems and processes to make sure robust security still fits with a great visitor experience.

Whatever the size or complexity of your venue, our Security Audits are tailored to your needs – practical, proportionate, and focused on real-world performance.

FAQs

Q: Why do I need an Annual Security Audit?
A: Security isn’t static. Staff change, new threats emerge, and legislation evolves. An Annual Security Audit makes sure you’re keeping up – and that your security still works in the real world and ensure that you remain legally compliant.

Q: Will you look at physical security every year?
A: If you’ve already upgraded physical measures like glazing or barriers, we won’t re-check them every year. Instead, we focus on how your people and plans are working – the parts that can change over time.

Q: How long does a Security Audit take?
A: It depends on your venue’s size and complexity, but most audits take a day on site, plus time to pull together a clear, tailored report and various calls before and after the audit using teams.

Q: Can you help us fix any gaps?
A: Absolutely. Our audit report doesn’t just highlight problems – it gives you practical, proportionate steps to close any gaps and keep improving.
